2011 SHOT Show Is a Hit

As the 2011 SHOT Show drew to a close, a strong sense of optimism seemed to permeate the entire 630,000 square feet of the Sands Expo and Convention Center in Las Vegas. Already called a record-setting show by the National Shooting Sports Foundation (the owner and managing organization of the SHOT Show), over 31,000 buyers from all over the world attended the four-day event.

Started back in 1979, the SHOT Show has become the world’s largest shooting, hunting and outdoor trade show. The 2011 show reported an overall attendance of 57,390 buyers, exhibitors, media and guests. In the midst of a down economy, these great attendance numbers demonstrated the strength of one of America’s oldest industries.

The SHOT Show has become the stage for shooting sports companies to announce new products and services.A walk through the many exhibit aisles at the 2011 show allowed a buyer to examine products from over 1,600 companies. These companies represented everything from the largest manufacturers, exhibiting hundreds of products, to small companies marketing just one original idea.This diversity showed that manufacturing in the shooting sports industry is alive and well.

The real test of success for this edition of the SHOT Show will come once the buyers return home and place or confirm their orders.NSSF organizers and industry members hope the optimism can carry from the show floor, to the retail floor and eventually to potential buyers everywhere.
