We’ve come a long way in the last 2-3 years. Looks like we’ve still got a ways to go. That’s my takeaway from the BOLO Digital Media Conference which wrapped up last night in Scottsdale. Search engine marketing, social media, and scads of other online marketing tools have all developed into proven marketing methods that companies are using to acquire new customers, build brand awareness and generate leads. But we’ve still got a ways to go.
And you know what? That’s great news for marketers because we’ve got tons of new ways to take our client’s message to their customers in ways we never could before. Or, ways to present ourselves to potential customers so we can virtually initiate a relationship before we ever talk.
But the biggest thing I see coming with digital media is mobile. The statistics for the growth and potential of mobile marketing is staggering. And I’m not talking about a mobile friendly web site. I’m talking about optimized mobile web sites, augmented reality technology, and more. The bottom line is, you need a mobile site that is user friendly, fully functional for how your customer interacts with it and one that portrays your brand consistently. That’s the way your customers are going to find you in the future.
Stay tuned over the next few days for more nuggets from BOLO. What’s your take on it?
