Lesson 30 – Over-Communicate
We’ve found over the past 35 years that you can’t communicate too much. Sure, you can wear people out with boring stories about all your travels, but when you’re working on a project, especially highly-technical and complicated ones like we work on, you can’t communicate enough.
Going back a few years, we were fortunate to design and build a website for a technology company. The site had to have a polished design with easy to use functionality. But it also had some things working on the back-end that pushed our developers to the max. Fortunately, we had a great team in place, with the expertise to ask the right questions and the capacity to understand what it was going to take to get it done….and we did. At the time, it was one of the most advanced websites we had ever done, and it continues to serve that client today. It took a great team between the client and our folks, working together, talking things through thoroughly. Over-communicate.
