Recently, I, along with the rest of our office was challenged to come up with three words to use to bring focus to my work for the year. The three words I landed on are Proactive, Cheerleader and Social.
The definition of PROACTIVE is: acting in anticipation of future problems, needs or changes. Is there anyone that can say they don’t have room for improvement in this area? We all get busy checking “to-do’s” off of our lists when we could really benefit by taking a few minutes each day to anticipate, create or respond to needs. Each day I ask myself, “what can I do to help my company and my customers by being more proactive”?
It’s always nice to be encouraged and appreciated. When I set CHEERLEADER as one of my words I wanted to consciously make sure I was encouraging others to be their best. As for appreciation, isn’t it a great feeling when someone goes above and beyond to say “thank you” or “I really appreciate what you did”? For most, technology has almost eliminated “mailing” a thank you note and when you think about it, many are not even good at sending a simple thank you email….as easy as that is! I hope that my co-workers, customers and vendors know they are appreciated; do yours?
I know what you’re thinking, but SOCIAL doesn’t mean I think I need to “party” more! When I picked the word SOCIAL, I wanted to make a conscious effort to pick the social medias that were most important to me for business and personal reasons, whether it be Facebook, LinkedIn, Blogging, Twitter, etc. and use them well.
What’s your focus for the year?
