Think Outside Of The Box

Imagine a world where we all just went with the “norm,” a world where no one ever thought outside of the box, and we all moved with the status quo. Wait, what? Why would we want to imagine that? The beautiful thing about living in our society today is that we have freedom to step outside of the box, to create, and to think for ourselves. With that in mind, we should ask: Why do we put ourselves “in the box?” How did we get there in the first place? When we ask those questions, we can begin to step out of the so-called box.

In your position, whether you know it or not, you have the power to create and influence those around you. Even if you aren’t the President of your company, you can still be a leader in your profession. You can set an example for your fellow co-workers and you can step out of your comfort zone to help your company grow to the next level. We are all creative thinkers, but we tend to stifle our creativity with the daily grind. Now is the best time to start thinking outside of the box. The more you do it, the more successful you will be. You can take your company to a whole new creative plane and you might just have the next big idea.

Thinking outside of the box can be tough at first, because it causes you to be insightful and mindful. There are so many ways to begin thinking this way, though. The best way to think outside the box is to begin thinking like a child. Question everything. Be curious. Daydream (let your mind wander). Ask why and ask how. Examine what doesn’t make sense to you. Look for correlations, coincidences, and contradictions (analyze current methods). Use your imagination.

To be a top company in any field, you must think outside of the box which leads to continuing growth and evolution of the business. When you personally think this way and you can share your ideas with your company and co-workers, you will be looked upon as a leader in your field. People will come to you to share their ideas. Your boss will come to you to ask for more ideas. Before you know it, your “thinking outside of the box” mentality will bring you to a position of leadership and to a role of great thinker. The key to strategy is thinking in a way that puts you in a position to say, “we’ve got a new idea and we know you will like it.”
