The Power and Reach of Missouri Corn

OUTdrive Episode 64 with Bradley Shad

In the summertime, there is nothing quite like corn on the cob. Sweet, juicy, buttery – everyone knows it’s the perfect pairing for dinner or a cookout. What many people don’t know is that the corn growing in rows along the side of the road will be harvested well past its prime to be used beyond the dinner table.

Often referred to as “yellow gold,” corn is used to make the products and byproducts we use everyday. Some of it will be made into chips, soda, and sweeteners, but most of it will be made into industrial products, fuel, or animal feed. In this episode of OUTdrive, I visit with Bradley Schad, Missouri Corn Growers Association CEO of Missouri Corn Merchandising Council, about the power and reach of this versatile crop.
